Mira calls once she and Leon land and are on their way to the hospital, and shortly after Ethan hangs up with her, he gets ushered into Derek's room by the doctor.

He throws a look over his shoulder at Volkov— "I'll be right back, I'll tell you what's going on, I promise", and then slips through the door to see Derek sitting up in the bed, eyes open and blinking slowly in the dimmed light.
