Chapter 2
I grabbed a room at some random hotel and immediately blocked Wyatt and Daisy.
Wyatt only acted like a neat freak when it came to me.
I was out.
He never had a problem with Daisy or his family.
They were made for each other. I would just step aside and let them be.
But Wyatt wasn't having any of it. He actually tracked me down, dragging Daisy along with him.
Wyatt looked me up and down, his frown deepening. "Wren, did you not hear me? Why are you still like this? Are you doing this just to spite me?"
Ever since my dad passed, I just couldn't find the energy for anything.
These past few days, I'd just been holed up in the hotel, zoning out.
When Wyatt finally tracked me down, I was sitting in the hotel restaurant, still in my pajamas, just trying to eat something.
I just ignored him completely.
I couldn't bring myself to keep repeating the same truths we'd already talked about.
I hadn't eaten properly in days. I was starving.
"Wren, you really dare to eat this crap out here? If you eat it, we're getting divorced," Wyatt snapped.
I just ignored him and took a spoonful of soup.
As I swallowed the soup, the pain in my stomach faded away.
Wyatt stormed over and smacked the bowl right out of my hand. "Wren, this time you're staying out here for three months. Now, come with me to the hospital and get your stomach cleaned out."
"Ms. Radcliffe, please don't upset Miss Amberley. Just come with us," Daisy said.
Daisy reached for me, but I brushed her off with barely any effort. Somehow, she ended up bumping right into the corner of the table behind her.
Her face instantly turned pale as a sheet, and she doubled over, gasping for air like she was in some unbearable pain.
"Wren, how dare you lay a hand on Daisy?" Wyatt snapped.
As soon as he saw Daisy hurt, Wyatt didn't hesitate; he slapped me right across the face.
"Mr. Kingsley, please don't blame Ms. Radcliffe. It was my clumsiness," Daisy said quietly.
"Daisy, stop sticking up for her. I've spoiled her way too much. Now she doesn't even know her place and dares to mess with you," Wyatt snapped.
"Mr. Kingsley, I'm just a housekeeper. Whatever Ms. Radcliffe does to me, it's really no big deal," Daisy replied softly.
"Daisy, you've been with me way longer than she ever has. Compared to you, she's nothing," Wyatt said with a sneer.
Watching them echo each other so perfectly, I just found it laughable.
This was the man I'd wasted five years loving.
All my care and devotion meant nothing to her.
I looked over at Daisy, standing behind Wyatt, and she flashed me a smug grin.
Her smug taunt and Wyatt always taking her side were the last straw. Whatever love I had for Wyatt was gone for good.
I stood up, walked right past Wyatt, and gave Daisy two hard slaps across the face. "Now that is what it means to lay hands on someone."
Wyatt just stood there, totally stunned that I'd actually hit Daisy.
When he finally snapped out of it, he shot me a furious glare. "Wren, why do you always have to make things difficult with Daisy? This time, you're stuck training with her for six months. If you refuse, don't even bother coming back."
I gave Wyatt a frosty stare. "Good. I never planned on coming back anyway."
My cold stare actually made Wyatt take a step back, looking at me like he couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Wren, what's wrong with you? You never used to be like this."
