I woke up to the sound of gunfire.

It wasn't a dream. It was a real deafening rattle of automatic weapons, mixed with shattering glass and men shouting.

I shot up in bed. The spot next to me was empty, but the sheets were still warm.

"Dante?" I called out, my voice sounding small in the empty room.

The bedroom door burst open. Dante rushed in, wearing just sweatpants, water still glistening on his chest and arms. He must've just gotten out of the shower.
