Synopsis

Dmitri Volkov is a top hockey player. He's good, confident, and keeps everyone at a distance. But his life gets complicated when his team makes him take care of a young rookie who barely speaks English. For three years, Dmitri has been secretly dating Cole Nakamura, a heart surgeon. They met by chance, had a bad first hookup, but fell for each other anyway. They talk in secret messages and meet once a year. They never talk about what they really are. Then Cole finds another man's things in Dmitri's apartment. Their secret falls apart. But they also find out that Cole has known about Dmitri all along — Cole used to be a hockey star too, but had to quit because of a heart problem. He's been watching Dmitri's career ever since. Now Dmitri has a big choice to make. Stay with his team and go for another championship, or leave everything behind and move to the city where Cole is starting his new job. Meanwhile, his rookie is getting better, his teammates are getting suspicious, and his biggest rival is breaking records. Dmitri has to decide: is hockey just a game, or is it the only way he knows how to live and love? This is a story about identity, sacrifice, and having the courage to want something more than winning.
