POV: Nathaniel

Nathaniel returned five minutes later.

The studio lights still shined brightly on the ten-year anniversary backdrop. But the space beside the wall was empty.

"Where is my wife?" Nathaniel asked a nearby staff member immediately.

"Mr. Ashford," the staff member replied nervously. "Your wife has already left the hotel."

Nathaniel frowned. His heart sank.

He pushed the feeling away.

Maybe she was angry. She had probably gone home alone. He only needed to get there and explain.

He pulled out his phone and dialed her number.

It went straight to voicemail. Her phone was turned off.
