Three days before the parent-teacher conference.

I got everything ready for the showdown.

I organized all the evidence into a single document and printed three copies of it.

One for the principal.

One to keep.

Another was already at the school district office.

The letter wasn't long, just three pages.

But every paragraph was backed up with a numbered piece of evidence.

I kept it calm and measured.

No adjectives, no emotional words.
