Chapter 1
"Miss Storm, this kind of trash isn't worth your hands getting dirty," William Frost said.
He barely spoke under normal circumstances, yet now he had one foot on the face of an arrogant rich heir, pinning him to the ground.
The heir screamed in pain. "Victoria, you're letting a guard dog hit me?"
Victoria Storm gave a cold laugh and tossed a check down in front of him. "That's for your medical bills. The rest is to cover your family's bankruptcy."
Everyone around them froze. They thought she had lost her mind.
But no one noticed that Victoria was staring blankly at the back of William's head.
Because she could hear him screaming in her mind: [Miss Storm looked so hot protecting me just now. I want to pin her against the wall and kiss her until I can't breathe. I'd give her my life.]
Victoria thought, 'Then do it already. What are you waiting for?'
*****
Victoria Storm sat in the back seat of the Rolls-Royce, staring at the sketchy app on her phone called "Wealth Surge System," lost in thought.
Just ten minutes ago, the system had told her that if she didn't spend 15 million dollars within an hour, she'd drop dead from poverty-induced genetic breakdown.
"Seriously, even dying has a capitalist vibe now?" Victoria muttered, looking out the window.
The car pulled up in front of the city's most exclusive supercar club.
Victoria pushed open the door, her red-soled heels clicking sharply against the pavement.
Today, she wore a fiery red slip dress with a black blazer draped over her shoulders. She looked like a red rose with thorns, one that could draw blood with a single touch.
"Welcome. Do you have a reservation?" the saleswoman asked.
She looked at Victoria with the contempt she usually reserved for wannabe influencers just here for a photo op.
Victoria said nothing and walked straight toward the limited-edition silver supercar in the center of the showroom.
"Miss, that car is worth 16 million dollars. Please don't get too close. If you scratch the paint, you couldn't possibly afford the damages," the saleswoman said, her tone dripping with snobbery.
Victoria stopped in her tracks, turned around, and let a fierce smirk curl on her lips. "You think I can't afford it, huh?"
She pulled a Black Diamond Card from her bag and flashed it in front of the saleswoman. "I'll take this car. And I want every supercar you have in stock. Oh, and you're fired."
The saleswoman was stunned for a moment, then scoffed, "Miss, are you filming for social media? This kind of story is so outdated."
Just then, a robotic voice echoed in Victoria's mind.
System: [Detected host has encountered a Snobbery Incident. Triggering Wealth Surge Mission: Buy this store and make the saleswoman submit. Reward: Basic Mind Reading.]
Victoria raised an eyebrow. 'Alright, this system gets me,' she thought.
Five minutes later, the club owner came running out of his office, practically tripping over himself as he bowed and scraped before Victoria.
"Miss Storm, I had no idea you would grace us with your presence," he said. "I deserve a thousand deaths for not welcoming you properly."
Victoria pointed at the saleswoman, who was frozen in shock. "She seriously annoyed me. This place is mine now. Get her out of here. Now."
The owner didn't hesitate. He ripped the saleswoman's badge off her and barked, "Get out. Now."
Victoria watched the saleswoman slink away, feeling nothing at all. She never let grudges last overnight. That was her rule.
System: [Mission complete. Reward issued.]
A cool, refreshing sensation washed over her mind.
Victoria turned to leave, but nearly collided with a man standing in the doorway.
He was tall, at least 6'2", and dressed in a black tailored suit that hugged his muscular frame just right.
He wore sunglasses, his features chiseled like he was carved from stone, and his whole vibe radiated a cold, intimidating aura that practically warned strangers to keep their distance.
This was William Frost, the guy who'd come to interview as her bodyguard.
Victoria was about to speak when a rough, almost fanatical voice suddenly echoed in her mind: [Damn, is this my new boss? Those legs, that waist, that look... She's exactly my type.
[I wish she'd glare at me with those fierce eyes all day. Even if she told me to blow up a bunker, I'd do it in a heartbeat.]
Victoria was stunned. She stared at the ice-cold, expressionless man in front of her and started seriously questioning herself.
She wondered if there was anything wrong with her mind reading.
