Chapter 1
Right after I married into the wealthy Colon family, my husband Broderick Colon didn't let me out of bed for seven days and nights.
It wasn't until the pregnancy test showed two lines that he just turned and left without a word.
He never once came back to see me during my entire pregnancy.
But everyone in our social circle envied me.
After all, not every rich wife got a monthly allowance of 3 million dollars.
When I found out I was having twin boys, my future looked even brighter.
I was over the moon, eagerly looking forward to what was ahead.
But after I gave birth, I flat-out refused to let Broderick see the kids.
He frowned and said, "So, what is it? Did you really give birth to two bastards?"
Bastards would've been better.
I gave birth to two snakes.
How could I tell him about that?
As soon as I got pregnant, Broderick took off overseas, keeping himself busy with his international deals.
He didn't see me even once throughout the whole pregnancy.
It wasn't until my due date that he finally, and rather reluctantly, promised he'd come back to see the baby.
But I ended up going into labor early.
The day I gave birth, my private medical team was left speechless, frozen in shock.
No one reached out to hold the babies.
My mind was flooded with terrible possibilities.
I wondered what they were: stillborn, deformed, or something even more horrifying.
I couldn't even look between my legs.
The lead doctor stared at me, his face drained of color, and slowly shook his head.
It wasn't until I felt something cold and slimy brush against my inner thigh that I realized something was seriously wrong.
When I saw two little snakes, one black and one white, coiled between my legs, I screamed and fell right off the bed.
Snakes were my worst nightmare.
"Where are my babies?" I screamed, grabbing the doctor's sleeve in a panic.
I clung to the doctor's sleeve like a lunatic.
The doctor looked on the verge of tears.
"We... we saw it happen with our own eyes, Mrs. Colon! I swear to God! The cameras caught it all!" he said.
As soon as I saw the footage on the monitor, my eyes rolled back and I passed out cold.
Lucky for me, I went into labor early.
If Broderick had come back as promised and found out I'd given birth to two snakes, he'd probably have killed me right then and there.
I'd rather have given birth to two bastards, even if one was black and the other was white.
I couldn't accept that I gave birth to two snakes.
If they were just regular kids, Broderick would've just thrown me out and wouldn't even care about getting his money back.
But snakes? This was way beyond just being cheated on.
This was a straight-up boss-level humiliation, right in my face.
I paid the medical team a huge sum to keep their mouths shut, and every bit of audio evidence was deleted.
I stared at the two baby snakes napping in the glass box, my mind spinning with a million thoughts.
There was no way I could keep them around.
Seriously, how did a human end up giving birth to snakes, of all things?
But right now, saving Broderick's pride was my top priority.
And that meant keeping my cash flowing.
The private doctors were already in my pocket.
I claimed it was a tough delivery and both babies died.
I grabbed the box, snuck out at night, found a perfect spot, and set the two snakes free.
After all that, I crashed onto the bed and slept like the dead.
Half-asleep, I felt my fingertips brush against something cold.
I thought the AC must've been set way too low.
I reached out for the remote.
But instead, my hand landed on a large patch of icy coldness.
I screamed, bolting upright.
Instinctively, I jerked back as fast as I could.
My head banged against the wall with a thud.
Staring right at me were those two little snakes. One was curled up on the table, the other on my bed.
Right next to the white snake was the remote.
Turns out, what I'd just touched was it.
"Who... who let you come back? I let you go! How did you even get back here?" I blurted out, panic rising in my voice.
The little white snake dipped its head and bumped the temperature button on the remote twice.
The room warmed up by two degrees.
My cold hands and feet began to warm up.
I just stared, completely dumbfounded.
The next second, the little white snake sprang upwards.
I clutched my head, bracing myself for the worst.
It was coming right at me.
But after a long moment, when nothing happened, I hesitantly peeked through my fingers and saw the white snake had simply curled up alongside his brother, both of them lying there right in front of me.
Sitting right next to them was a pair of thick socks.
The two little snakes bumped their heads together with a soft "thud."
It was like they were saying, "Cuddle!"
My mouth hung open.
I hesitantly reached for the thick socks.
The two little snakes' tails started wiggling with excitement.
I instinctively pulled my hand back in panic.
I remembered someone once saying that when a snake moved its tail, it was a sign it was about to hunt.
Seeing me withdraw my hand, the two snakes immediately stopped moving their tails.
When I cautiously reached out again, they just watched me, looking expectant.
It wasn't until I put the socks on that the two snakes started wagging their tails like crazy.
Did I seriously just see happiness on their little snake faces?
Hold on... wasn't this exactly what dogs did?
