Chapter 4

The bank account balance showed over three million dollars.

James couldn't believe his eyes.

"H-how did you get so much money?" he stammered.

I replied, "You have no right to know, and I have no obligation to tell you."

I didn't hold back with James.

"We're married," James blurted out.

Only now did he remember we were married.

Funny how he forgot all about that when he was busy spreading rumors about me.

When he slapped me, marriage didn't seem to matter then.

I shot back, "Not for much longer, trust me."

James and Evelyn shot each other a look.
