Jason turned toward Leah. "Stop."

"No," I said. "She brought it up. Let her answer."

The front desk employee moved away, pretending to check a stack of papers. Guests hurried through the lobby while wind pushed against the glass doors.

I faced Leah. "What happened here last spring?"

She watched Jason for a moment.

"We stayed for two nights," she said.

"She was having trouble with Daniel," Jason said. "I came here to help her."

"You booked one room," Leah replied.

Jason's jaw tightened.

"Did you sleep with her?" I asked.
