Chapter 5

A year ago, Adam's wolf began to fade. No one knew why. The Blackstone healer couldn't explain it, and the elders said they'd never seen anything like it.

His wolf grew quieter by the day, until finally, it went silent.

Everyone thought he was going to lose his wolf entirely. Some even whispered that he might not survive.

But I refused to let that happen. There was a witch on the outskirts of the territory, an old one who dealt in blood magic. No one went to her unless they had nothing left to lose. I went to her alone.
