Chapter 3
3.Chapter 3
"Tired?" I let out a cold chuckle. "It's nothing compared to the pain of being betrayed."
Vivian sighed. "Fine, I've got your back. Feel free to ask if you need anything."
I began making plans right after returning to Vivian's place.
First of all, I needed to find evidence of their dates.
Then, I would have to record their phone calls.
Lastly, I should get their chatting records, if possible.
However, these things were easier said than done.
I'd moved out, which meant I couldn't keep my eye on them any time I wanted.
Moreover, careful as Theodore, he would never let others have something on him easily.
But I couldn't give up.
This was not only to get a bigger share of property during the divorce. More importantly, it was to seek justice for myself.
I'd like everyone to know who had betrayed our marriage.
That night, I lay in the guest room bed in Vivian's house, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.
Five years of dating and three years of marriage were all over.
I must admit that I was sad and hurt.
However, compared to sadness, what I felt more was fury.
I was furious that he cheated on me.
I was furious that he was so heartless.
I was furious that I hadn't found out earlier.
Just then, my phone rang. It was Theodore.
I shot a glance at the phone and rejected it.
Soon after, he called again.
And I rejected it once more.
When he called the third time, I picked up the call.
"Oh my, Bella, you finally answered my phone." His voice was full of fatigue.
"If you have anything to say, say it already!" I snapped coldly.
Theodore said on the other end of the phone, "I want to see you. Let's talk."
I snorted, "I don't think we have anything more to talk about."
He begged, "Bella, I know I was wrong. Just give me a chance, okay?"
I was silent for a few seconds.
"Theodore, let me ask you a question." I asked.
He said, "What is it?"
I asked the question, "Given a second chance, would you still cheat on me?"
Theodore fell silent on the other end.
This silence was the answer.
"Got it," I said. "Don't ever call me again."
After saying that, I hung up on him and blocked his number.
Some paths, once taken wrongly, could never be retraced.
Some people, once lost, could never be found again.
Good bye, Theodore.
Early next morning, I began my plan of gathering evidence.
First thing in the morning, I went to the office.
Both Theodore and Judith worked there, and I had to watch their every move.
But when I stepped into the company door, I found everyone's gaze on me was odd.
Some were filled with sympathy, some were inquiring, and some were just watching the show.
I walked directly to my office, and when I passed by Judith's seat, I deliberately shot it a glance.
She was not there.
"Isabella," the department manager, Samson Robertson, came over to me. "Please come to my office for a bit."
I followed him into his office.
"Have a seat." He pointed to the chair across his desk.
I sat down and waited for him to speak.
Samson began, "Isabella, I've heard about you and Theodore."
At that, my heart sank. It seemed the scandal had spread around the office.
I said, "Mr. Robertson, this is my personal matter..."
"I know, but this has negative effect on the company." He frowned. "You know, our company cares about its image and reputation."
I got what he meant.
I went to the point. "Mr. Robertson, just say it. No need to beat around the bushes."
Samson continued, "Well, here's the thing. The company decided to give you a month off so you can take a break and deal with your personal matters."
"Paid holiday?" I asked.
He let out an awkward smile. "Um, it's leave for personal matters."
Oh, that meant I wouldn't get paid.
I rose to my feet. "I see."
Samson said before I left. "Isabella, don't overthink it. You can come back to work after this whole thing is over."
I sneered coldly. "Mr. Robertson, seriously, do you think I'll come back?"
He was momentarily stunned.
Without another word, I left his office.
Returning to my desk, I began to pack my things.
"Isabella," My colleague, Megan Perry, came over and asked, "what are you..."
"I quit." I kept packing my stuff without lifting my head.
"Is it because of Theodore?" Megan asked.
I paused packing and looked up at her. "You all knew?"
Megan nodded slightly. "Yeah. Yesterday, Judith came to work crying, saying she didn't mean to ruin your marriage with Theodore, hoping the co-workers would not blame her."
I laughed bitterly. "She didn't mean to?"
Megan continued, "She also said it was Mr. Webster who hit on her first, and she refused at first, but Mr. Webster said there had been problems in his relationship with you for a long time..."
"Enough!" I cut her off.
Judith was still playing the victim till then.
And Theodore actually told outsiders that there was something wrong with our relationship.
I finished packing my things and headed out with the box.
When passing by the front desk, I heard several receptionists talking.
One girl whispered, "I have long seen that Mr. Webster feels something for Judith."
