Chapter 5

Ethan called twenty minutes after I reached my sister's apartment.

"Where are you? I thought you were resting."

I sat on the edge of the spare bed. My suitcase was still closed beside me.

"At my sister's."

"Why didn't you tell me you were going—"

He stopped.

I heard something touch the table.

He had seen my wedding ring resting on top of his bold signature. He had seen the silver key to the new house.
