Chapter 5

When I returned to the dining area, Charlie and Brynlee had almost finished. They were sitting side-by-side, chatting and laughing easily.

I didn't head back to the table. Instead, I walked straight out of the restaurant.

I wandered the streets, the evening breeze brushing against my face, slowly clearing my head. The pain throughout my body eased a little, no longer so sharp.

Walking slowly, I began to trace back to when Charlie had changed.

It was probably the night of my father's funeral.

I found out that Charlie's parents had also passed away that very same day.
