That evening, I went back to grab a change of clothes.

I pushed the door open and found Melinda, Frank, Linda, and David all sitting in the living room. The table was covered with plates of food, like they'd been waiting for me.

Linda was the first to stand up. "Well, look who's back. Susan, do you really think you're that important? Posting notices at our restaurant so the whole block can laugh at us?"

Melinda stood up too, her face tight with disapproval. "Susan, sit down. We need to talk this out."
