Chapter 1
After three years of marriage, my husband who swore he loved me to death had cheated on me three times.
The first time he cheated, he transferred the house to my name and begged for forgiveness through tears.
The second time he cheated, he red-eyed and explained it was all a mistake.
The third time he cheated, he calmly tucked the other woman in. "Your body is weak since you got pregnant. It's because I love you so much that I sought out other women."
Alex Foster's words made me laugh bitterly.
"Your excuses for cheating are getting more and more ridiculous," I said.
It had been three years of marriage, and this was already the third time I'd caught Alex cheating.
Today was our third wedding anniversary.
I had booked a restaurant early, waited for him all evening with a carefully prepared gift.
Not only did he not show up, but after I came home disappointed, I found him lying in the same bed with another woman.
Looking at the strange woman's pretty face, I gave a wry smile.
Wait, she wasn't the other woman.
She was different from the women Alex cheated with the first two times.
Maybe I should call her woman number five. Her name was Sophie.
I didn't break down sobbing hysterically like the last two times. I just kicked the clothes near my feet and asked calmly, "And who is she?"
Before Alex could explain, Sophie proudly lifted her chin, talking down to me. "Back in the day, I was Alex's junior. Now I'm his senior assistant.
"Alex brought me home, let me sleep in the bed you share, which means he doesn't care about you at all. If I were you, I'd be too ashamed to stay. How do you have the nerve to stand here asking questions?"
She glanced at me sideways, her words full of contempt.
As for her spoiled behavior, Alex just frowned slightly, then touched her face. "Be good, get dressed, and go home."
Sophie pouted, her eyes instantly welling up. "No way. You said you'd stay with me all night."
Watching her cling sweetly to Alex, I felt so sick I almost threw up.
Seeing I was about to leave, Alex quickly got up and grabbed my arm. "Wait until I send her away, then I'll explain properly."
Alex got out of bed without a hint of shame, got dressed, and pulled Sophie out from under the covers.
Sophie could only glare at me resentfully while slowly starting to get dressed.
The red hickeys all over her body stabbed deep into my heart.
But I still held onto my dignity, biting my lower lip tightly, not shedding a single tear.
This calmness, so different from before, seemed to surprise Alex a little.
Even so, he still personally saw Sophie out.
When he came back to the room and saw me still staring blankly at the messy bed, Alex panicked and hugged me. "Emily, are you still mad at me? It's okay, you can let it out.
"You know, you're the only one I've ever loved from the start."
He rolled up his sleeve and offered his arm to my mouth. "If you're angry, bite me hard. You're in the early stages of pregnancy. You absolutely can't hold in your anger. It'll affect the baby."
He reached out and touched my stomach, urging me to bite him to vent. "If that still doesn't calm you down, tomorrow I'll take you car shopping.
"You've always liked Porsches, right? I'll buy you a limited edition, customized to your favorite color."
After saying this, he gently booped my nose. "But after the baby is born, you can't drive a sports car anymore. It's too dangerous for the child.
"Then, I'll buy a safer car and hire a driver for you and the baby."
His gaze lingered on my stomach, his expression dreamy as if picturing a beautiful future after the child was born.
I couldn't help but sneer.
So his eager apologies and attempts to make it up to me weren't because he was worried about me, but because he was worried about the baby in my belly.
