The tension in our small kitchen was electric as Karen's eyes glazed over, establishing the mind-link with Thomas. I stood my ground, feeling Lyra's strength flowing through me like never before. My fingers curled around the edge of the counter, steadying myself for what was to come.

It didn't take long.

A powerful presence invaded my mind, Thomas's Alpha tone rippling through my skull like thunder. I winced at the familiar pressure, but something was different this time—Lyra didn't cower as she usually did.
