Chapter 4

For the next few days, he stayed at the estate, playing the perfect caretaker to two pregnant women.
Lila had severe morning sickness, and Grant spent almost all his time by her side, acting like a devoted husband.
To buy myself a chance to escape, I gradually softened my attitude.
"You don't need to have security watch me anymore. The baby is innocent. No matter what happens, I'm going to have this child."
Surprise and joy lit up Grant's eyes. "Really?"
"I've never lied to you. I'm not starting now," I said flatly.
He pulled me into a tight, emotional embrace.
Grant gave me back my phone, and the guards stopped shadowing my every move.
"I'm taking Lila to Geneva in two days," he promised. "When I get back, we'll live a good life together."
I gave a soft hum of agreement, lowering my head to hide the absolute coldness in my eyes.
Two days later, Grant and Lila boarded a private jet.
I sat in the empty estate, quietly waiting for Margaret to show up.
Sure enough, that afternoon, Margaret marched into the house with a group of burly men.
"Get her to the clinic."
"You have the audacity to claim that bastard in your belly belongs to Grant? Have you no shame?"
"He might be bewitched by you, but I'm not. That bastard dies today."
I looked up at her, my voice eerily calm.
"You're going to regret this."
