Chapter 6
Chapter Six
WREN ASHWOOD
When I woke up again, I was no longer in the pack hospital.
That was the first thing I noticed.
This room was larger and the scent in the air was different.
My eyes moved around the unfamiliar room.
Where was I?
Pain immediately shot through my body as I tried to sit up.
A groan escaped my lips.
"Don't move."
My head snapped toward the voice.
Killian.
He was sitting on a chair beside the window.
His arms were folded across his chest, dark circles around his eyes like he hadn't slept for days
"Where am I? What are you doing here?"
Killian stood immediately. "You've been unconscious for two days, and we are in pack Valmont hospital."
At his words, memories slowly returned to me.
What had happened before I passed out.
How Soren had chosen Becky over me.
I looked down at my hands. "How did I get here then?"
Killian's expression darkened. "I brought you, I had to use my authority to transfer you here." His hands curled into fists.
I stared at him for a few seconds. "Why?"
Killian Valmont was the Alpha of Valmont Pack, one of the strongest neighboring packs.
He had no reason to involve himself in my problems... Yet he had
"Why would you do that?" I asked again.
Killian didn't answer, instead, he walked towards the table and picked up a bottle of water, he placed the straw on my lips. "Drink."
"What about the ceremony?" I asked, after I had finished sipping from the bottle.
Killian's expression changed. "It was postponed by Soren."
"Oh." I leaned into the bed, thoughts whirling around in my head.
This accident had disrupted my plans but on the other hand...
It has strengthened my resolve.
...
It took another three days before the healers finally allowed me to leave the pack hospital.
Killian, using his alpha authority, had summoned healers from three different territories.
I found out later that he had personally contacted them.
It was excessive, completely unnecessary for someone who barely knew me but I was still thankful he didn't let me die.
On the day of the discharge, Killian insisted on driving me back to Ashwood himself.
When we reached my apartment, I unbuckled my seatbelt. "Thank you for everything, Killian."
"You are welcome," He replied, fingers tightening around the steering. "If you need anything... Never mind, just get some rest."
I flashed him a smile, pushing open the door. "Thank you."
Then I walked into the apartment.
It was extremely quiet as Soren and Becky were nowhere to be found, they were probably still at the pack hospital.
With a shrug, I placed my bag by the side of my bedroom door and made a beeline towards the store room.
As soon as I entered, I caught sight of the projector and laptop connected to it.
My legs carried me to the table where they were placed, my hands flipping open the laptop.
I quickly keyed in the password, my heart pounding in my chest.
My eyes landed on the video file, a wry smile on my lips.
I had spent countless nights editing it, stitching and adding various moments to create the perfect mate-bond ceremony video.
They were all pictures and memories of my life with Soren and our happy memories.
Starting from childhood to when we found out we were mates, all our dates, public appearances and even random texts between us.
With one click, I deleted them while downloading evidence.
Pictures and videos, Becky had blessed me with, including the one I had taken in the underground garage.
By the time I was done editing, the entire ceremony presentation had become a detailed documentary of Soren Thorne's infidelity.
I would give Soren Thorne an elaborate mate-bond ceremony.
But not just the kind he was expecting.
...
Later that afternoon, as I went to the kitchen to have lunch, I heard voices coming from the guest room.
My legs pulled to a halt, brows raised.
I thought she was still receiving treatment at the pack hospital.
So where did they go when I came back earlier?
I moved closer to the slightly ajar door of the guest room, their voices instantly becoming clearer.
"And I am going to be like... Wren, my wolf is finally healed! I can finally mate with you!" I heard Soren say.
"Oh please, it has been fake all these while. Your acting is lousy too." Becky fired at him.
"If my acting was lousy, then how did I manage to fool Wren for years?"
Becky scoffed. "And that's because that bitch is as blind as a bat. She will definitely mistake poop as chocolate."
"Did you just call me poop?" Soren snapped.
Even though they were blatantly talking about deceiving me, my shoulders still quaked slightly from silent laughter.
"No, I was just trying to prove a point... And I am just worried about you."
I heard Soren sigh. "Worried about me? You've already caused enough trouble for me, Becky."
"What do you mean?" Becky asked.
Soren scoffed. "Doesn't matter. Anyways, after the ceremony, you and I will end everything between us."
My brows raised in surprise.
That's new.
Becky was quiet for a few seconds, then she laughed bitterly. "You're going to abandon me."
"Abandon you?I have sacrificed everything for you. Remember, I chose you over my own mate."
"Is that so? weren't you the one that made a promise to be with me forever!" Becky shrieked hysterically.
"And I have changed my mind. All this will end after the ceremony."
A smirk made its way to my lips
End?
It's just beginning.
