Ryan woke up to the harsh blare of his alarm at 6:30 AM.

He reached blindly across the enormous bed to hit snooze. His hand brushed against the sheets on Chloe's side. They were perfectly flat and completely cold.

He frowned, sitting up.

Usually, by this time, the scent of dark roast coffee was drifting up the stairs, and his suit was freshly steamed and hanging on the closet door. Today, the house was dead silent.
