Chapter 6

"Joshua, don't cry. I'll never leave you," I said, crouching down and pulling him into a hug.

Asher watched the scene, an unspoken hesitation flickering in his eyes, but in the next second he was all icy indifference again.

"I'll give you three days to think about it," he said, then turned and walked away.

I held Joshua close, tears streaming down my face.

Was this really how it was going to be? Was he seriously going to treat us like this?

Did our marriage mean nothing to him? Did he even care about his own son?
