On the day of the welcome party, Roland and Maeve looked at me with guilt. But I remained expressionless.

Watching the friends I used to be close with showing their favor to Stella, I couldn't describe how I felt. Perhaps I was numb to the pain.

At my welcome party, Roland announced the distribution of company shares—1% to me and 5% to Stella.

Whispers broke out all around.

"She's nothing but a stray dog," someone said.

"She shouldn't have woken up at all," another agreed.

"How can a good-for-nothing like her claim shares? Or a party? Does she even deserve…
