Samuel's gaze shifted toward me. He paused for just a moment, but then, without another thought, scooped up the bawling Aurora.

Then he pushed through the crowd, and didn't even glance back as he disappeared.

I watched their backs until they vanished from sight. Slowly, I felt myself growing more and more lightheaded.

Right before I blacked out, I caught a glimpse of a tall figure frantically rushing toward me.

Half-conscious, I drifted into an endless dream. I dreamed I was back five years ago, when I first met Samuel.
