Chapter 5
Maybe Andrew was just eager to prove he always kept his word. He wasted no time.
He dumped all the cash he could access into Charlotte's bank account, then juggled funds from his other accounts to write her a check for 10 million dollars.
In no time, he'd already hit the 30 million mark.
After breakfast, Andrew took Charlotte to the most luxurious hotel in Maple City and rented out the whole venue.
With a lavish gesture, he bought every firework and flower in town and hired top event planners to meticulously decorate the hall.
Right in the center of the hall, the largest projector screen and projector had already been set up, standing out prominently.
While Andrew was signing the down payment, a staff member approached Charlotte and enthusiastically invited her upstairs for a free spa treatment.
Charlotte was about to turn her down when, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Nina sneaking around nearby.
A thought struck her, and she followed the staff member upstairs.
Not long after, Charlotte excused herself to the restroom and ended up catching Andrew and Nina in each other's arms.
Nina giggled, latching onto Andrew's hand, her voice dripping with sweetness.
"The spa is right next to the indoor pool, Andrew. Did you know? The pool's balcony has a perfect view of the party hall," she cooed.
She added, "Tomorrow, we'll be up there, watching your wife's birthday party from above, and then..."
Andrew's breath hitched. His hand shot to Nina's waist, his voice urgent. "You little vixen. Just remember, no marks on me. I don't want Charlotte to find out."
Nina leaned in eagerly, her eyes smoldering with desire. "Your wife is just next door getting pampered, Andrew. Let's sneak in and have some fun. It'll be so exciting!"
Soon, the room was filled with intimate, suggestive sounds.
Charlotte's face fell. She clenched her jaw, swallowing her fury, rushed through her spa treatment, and hurried downstairs.
She tracked down the hotel manager and requested a ton of speakers. The more, the better.
The manager joked, "Mrs. Grant, are you throwing a concert for your birthday or something?"
Charlotte grinned, "I want to declare my love to my husband tomorrow, so I want everyone to hear it, loud and clear."
Just as she finished making the arrangements, Charlotte heard Andrew calling for her.
She walked over and saw Andrew, his cheeks still suspiciously red and practically drowning in perfume.
"Scared me half to death, Charlotte! Why weren't you waiting for me at the spa?" Andrew said, looking all nervous and reaching out to grab her arm.
Charlotte kept her expression calm and brushed him off, "I just went to the restroom for a minute. Why are you freaking out?"
"Of course I'm nervous! You're the wife I worked so hard to win over. What if you wandered off or disappeared?" Andrew said.
"Since we've got nothing else planned this afternoon, let's swing by my family. I want to invite my folks over for your birthday bash myself," Andrew said.
Charlotte didn't say a word.
As they walked out of the hotel, there was a balloon vendor by the roadside.
Andrew ran over like an excited kid, bought a balloon, and carefully tied it to Charlotte's arm.
Then he jogged a few steps away, turned back, and came running with a big, goofy smile on his face.
"Charlotte, with this balloon, no matter where you are, I'll spot you in a second. Now you can't get away from me," he teased.
Charlotte smiled, "What if I went somewhere so far away you couldn't reach me?"
Andrew immediately shook his head, absolutely certain.
"No way, Charlotte. Even if you went to the ends of the earth, I'd still find you. Besides, we love each other so much. You'd never want to leave me," he said.
Charlotte didn't say another word. She just quietly followed him home.
At dinner, Andrew's cousin, out of nowhere, brought up the topic of kids, shooting Charlotte a pointed look.
"You've been trying for three years now. Even a chicken would've hatched a brood by now. Charlotte, can you even have kids? This is about the Grant family's heir. Do you think this is some kind of game?" he sneered.
Before Charlotte could even say a word, Andrew shot to his feet and flipped the table over.
"It is none of your concern. If anyone in this family dares to make her suffer, don't blame me if I fight you to the end!" Andrew snapped.
With that, he took Charlotte by the hand and made to leave.
Seeing this, Andrew's father, David Grant, angrily called Andrew over.
Charlotte felt a pang of emotion. Andrew had just defended her so boldly.
She followed after them, wanting to step in and keep Andrew from getting chewed out, but overheard David murmuring, "Don't kid yourself. If Charlotte really can't have kids, what are you going to do?"
Andrew spoke up, unable to hide his excitement.
"I'm already a dad. The baby is three months along, and I pulled some strings. Turns out it's a boy!" he blurted out.
David's face lit up with surprise, then he quickly warned, "Make sure you keep this a secret. Don't let Charlotte find out."
Andrew answered, brimming with confidence, "Don't worry, Charlotte won't suspect a thing. Once the baby's here, I'll just tell her we adopted since she couldn't have kids."
Charlotte gave a dry, bitter laugh. She didn't want to hear another word of their sickening talk.
