Chapter 5

"Alex, Emily's here," Sophie called out.

Alex nodded and stood up from the couch.

He was wearing a simple black sweater. It was nothing fancy, but for some reason, it looked really good on him.

As usual, he had the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, showing off those lean, well-toned forearms.

I couldn't help but look away, too nervous to let myself stare for more than a second.

"Have a seat," Alex said in his usual laid-back tone. "Dinner's almost ready."

He turned and headed into the kitchen.
