Grant's POV

When Grant dropped Sloan off at her apartment, she asked, "What if Leona really makes you choose between her and me?"

"She won't."

"Maybe I should stop seeing Ivy." Sloan forced a casual smile. "Godmother is only a title anyway."

Grant answered at once. "Don't say things you don't mean. I'll make Leona apologize to you."

Every other time, Leona had become angry, gone quiet, and remained right where he had left her. He assumed this time would be no different.

Only when he opened the front door and found the house dark and silent did unease begin…
