Chapter 1
I was working late at the office when my husband's secretary, Emily Lane, suddenly sent me a photo.
In the picture, she was wearing a skimpy bikini, hugging my husband tightly on a beach in Paradise Isle, smiling sweetly.
The caption was pure provocation: [Sarah, Adam says he loves me. He told me not to tell you, but I feel sorry for you.]
I stared at the photo for three seconds and smiled. Then, calmly, I forwarded the photo to the print shop downstairs, adding a note: [Print 100 copies, A3 color, rush order.]
An hour later, I personally plastered those photos all over every corner of the office.

My phone screen lit up.
Emily sent me a photo. The beach in Paradise Isle was golden, so bright it almost hurt to look at. She was wearing a tiny bikini, clinging to a man.
That man was my husband, Adam.
They were grinning at the camera, flashing their pearly whites.
Under the photo, there was a line of text. [Sarah, Adam says he loves me. He didn't want to upset you, so he told me not to. But seeing you slaving away alone at the office, I kinda feel sorry for you.]
I stared at the photo. Three seconds ticked by. I smirked.
With a flick of my thumb, I forwarded the picture to the 24-hour print shop downstairs.
I typed out my order. [A3 glossy, full color, 100 copies. Rush it. I'll pick them up in an hour.]
The print shop owner replied with an OK emoji in a flash.
I put my phone down and went right back to the project numbers on my screen.
My heart didn't skip a beat. My hands stayed steady. I didn't feel a flicker in my mind. It felt like dealing with a sudden system bug, one I'd already planned for.
An hour later, I saved all my files and clocked out.
The office building was still brightly lit.
On my floor in the design department, about half the team was still there.
Everyone nodded and smiled when they saw me. "Sarah, you're still here?"
"Yeah, finished a milestone," I answered, keeping my face as calm as always.
I rode the elevator down to the first floor.
The print shop owner had already wrapped up a huge bundle of photos in brown paper. The prints were still warm to the touch. "Here you go, Ms. Evans."
"Thanks, John." I scanned and paid.
Arms full of 100 glossy A3 prints, I stepped back into the elevator.
I hit the button for the 17th floor: design department.
The elevator doors slid open. I marched right up to the department bulletin board.
It was covered with the latest project updates and employee of the month awards.
I tore them all down, one by one.
Then, armed with a roll of tape, I started slapping up those photos of Adam and Emily, one after another.
One. Two. Three. In no time, the entire bulletin board was plastered with those shameless photos.
I didn't stop there.
I headed straight for the break room. Slapped one on the coffee machine. Stuck another on the fridge. Also, the water cooler got one.
The late-night crew started to notice what I was up to.
A few people peeked out, looking puzzled.
I ignored them and walked right up to Adam's office door.
His office had a 'Department Director' sign hanging on the door.
I taped the photo neatly right under it, perfectly centered.
Then I moved on to Emily's desk.
Her pink water bottle sat next to a small mirror.
I taped the photo right over her mirror.
Then I took the rest and posted them all down the hallway, one after another, like I was putting up ads.
By the end, every corner of the 17th floor was filled with their smiling faces.
After I finished everything, I headed back to my desk, grabbed my bag, and powered off my phone.
I took one last look at the place I'd called home for seven years.
Then, without a second glance, I stepped into the elevator straight to the airport.
Happy anniversary, Adam. Hope you enjoy your surprise. You and Emily, have fun cleaning up the mess.
